Rohit regards Shubman as the upcoming star of Indian cricket

Shubman Gill is one of the names that have created surprises in Indian cricket at present. This newcomer Indian cricketer has created a stir in the world of cricket. Day by day the discussion around him is increasing in the cricket community. Recently, in a live video session, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma confessed that Gill has all the potential to become the bright face of Indian cricket very soon.

Shubman Gill- future of Indian cricket:

During a recent interaction between former India and Mumbai Indians colleagues Harbhajan Singh and Rohit Sharma, Rohit lauded youngster Shubman and termed him as the future face of the country’s cricket.

Shubman was picked for the New Zealand series. There he was featured in the two one-day matches. According to Hit-man, the right-handed batter has a lot of abilities to establish himself permanently on the national side. He thinks Gill is a fluent batter. Whenever he gets continuous runs, he will get confidence. Rohit also added that Gill has a good domestic record in his grip. He said, “I think we should look to bring him into the side. There is huge competition in the team.”

Bhajji also thinks that Gill should be picked into the squad as he has a great sign of talent. Observing the New Zealand series he remarked, “We lost in New Zealand. Prithvi Shaw made a comeback. He was out of the side, but you guys backed him. I think someone like Shubman Gill should have been given a chance in the New Zealand Test series. If Rohit was injured, I think Shubman should have played as he was here in the squad.”

After a harrowing loss in the Wellington Test, Kohli was expected to make space for Gill in the lineup, to strengthen the batting lineup. Instead, he went ahead with the same lineup. India lost the two-Test match series consecutively. However, Shubman got the only chance in the One-dayers against the New Zealanders last season.

The legendary spinner also praised KL Rahul and Shreyash Iyer. They genuinely have been performing well for the team after getting regular chances in the team.

Shubman Gill in the Indian cricket right now:

Young Indian opener Shubman Gill is widely known as the ‘Prince of Indian cricket’. He has been in good form since the beginning of 2023. The popular batter made runs continuously across formats for the Indian team and even batted exclusively in the recently ended Indian Premier League 2023, scoring 3 record-breaking twenty-twenty 100s. ‘Orange Cap’ holder Gill was the highest run-scorer in the recent tournament.

Before IPL started, Shubman became the youngest cricketer to smash a double ton in the history of One-Day-Internationals. Most likely, Gill will be part of India’s eleven in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Fans wanted him to continue his red-hot form in the India vs. Australia World Test Championship 2023 Final in England. Meanwhile, cricketers associated with the WTC final were asked to share their opinions about Shubman Gill.

In a video uploaded by ICC, Gill talked about his father’s affection for cricket. For this reason, he motivated Shubman to start practicing with the bat at the age of just three. He started practicing with a plastic ball. With time he became a better player. Gill’s counterpart Rohit Sharma said that Gill has the full ability to become a great player and has everything a player requires at the international level. Rohit even called Gill ‘the next big thing in Indian cricket’.

“Shubman Gill has so much potential. Without a doubt in my mind, he is the next big thing for Indian cricket. He has everything that is required to have success at this level. I just hope that he continues his good run of form,” Rohit told the ICC.
